The project captures not only their physical transformation but the emotional and psychological textures of coming of age.
Using still and moving images, voice recordings, drawings, and time spent together, the work unfolds slowly, rooted in presence, trust, and shared experience. It is built from moments both observed and felt: a glance, a conversation, a quiet afternoon.
In this way, Soft Foxes becomes an archive of memory and emotion in its most elemental form, a visual and sonic diary that values what is fleeting, personal, and often overlooked.
The project resists the tendency to romanticise or simplify girlhood. Instead, it embraces its contradictions: softness/strength, fear/freedom, the inner worlds that form before language.
The girls are not passive subjects, but active participants in the shaping of the work, offering gestures, moods, and moments that speak to who they are and how they are becoming.
Soft Foxes is about care. How we look at one another, how we hold space for change, and how we preserve what might otherwise be lost to time. It invites viewers to reflect on their own histories, their own girlhoods or their witnessing of it, and to consider how identity begins in the smallest, most tender moments.
