Biography

Frances Kennedy (1990) is a portrait photographer currently based in Norwich, UK. Her work explores the interplay between identity and portrait photography. She uses different forms of photographic technology, including medium format analogue, point and shoot 35mm, digital SLRs, and phone camera technology, as she interrogates the fragmentary nature of constructed online existence and the proliferation of ‘selfie’ images on social media. Her use of manual photography is a direct response to the search for an ‘authentic’ IRL self. Frances holds an MA Moving Image and Sound from Norwich University of the Arts, and a BA Honours Photography from Norwich University of the Arts.
